Dean leaf people

On my way down to Stockbridge from Dean Village I came across these leaf people and dog. The artist is unknown apparently and they've been in place since October. They're a bit spooky and sinister, but funny as well...

Another V&A inspired design

Now that I'm all Illustratored-out, think I'll go back to some good old-fashioned gouache and collage... )

Inspired by Chinese Robes exhibition at the V&A

I loved the V&A exhibition - it was the best thing I've seen in ages and was truly inspiring. I particulary liked some of the border patterns which were embroidered or woven. This pattern is my interpretation of some of the patterns, all mashed up and tweaked together... The colour palette is a very old one, from my degree collection!

Colour palettes - Elie

I love making up colour palettes - so satisfying and generally happy making : ) Here are two grid palettes, based on pics I took in Elie. Now I just have to come up with some new designs to put them into action!

As featured in Trend Bible

Cool! Just found out that one of my degree weaves is featured in Trend Bible's Autumn Winter 2011/12 interiors trendbook (www.trendbible.co.uk). The section is called 'Perfected'... it's nice to know someone spotted all the toil that went into the warp ; )

My fabric is the one in the top row in the middle. It's a viscose warp with ribbon figuring threads over the top. I remember it was very hot the day I warped that one up, but it was a dream to weave.
